Behind the walls. Beyond the ordinary.
A data center is an ecosystem. Look inside to explore the systems that work together, and the electrical infrastructure that connects them.

From the utility connection to the server rack, explore eight essential parts of a data center. Start with a point on the model or choose a system below.
Data hall
Rows of server racks house computing and storage equipment. Overhead distribution and rack power distribution units (PDUs) bring electrical power close to the IT load.
The electrical connection : Rack feeds, distribution pathways and coordination with the IT layout.
Electrical room
Switchgear, breakers and distribution panels route power through the building. Protection and transfer equipment help manage the normal and alternate sources.
The electrical connection : Main feeders, protective devices, grounding and coordinated distribution.
UPS & batteries
An uninterruptible power supply (UPS) conditions power and uses stored energy to bridge an interruption. Batteries support the protected load while an alternate source becomes available.
The electrical connection : UPS connections, battery integration and maintenance bypass arrangements.
Backup generators
Generators provide an alternate source when utility power is unavailable. Start-up, transfer and compatibility with the UPS are coordinated as part of the electrical design.
The electrical connection : Generator feeders, transfer equipment and integrated system testing.
Utility & transformers
The utility connection brings power to the site. Transformers adapt the incoming voltage for the facility’s distribution system.
The electrical connection : Service entrance, transformer connections and grounding.
Cooling infrastructure
Cooling equipment removes the heat produced by IT systems. Chillers, fans and pumps work with the chosen air or liquid cooling design.
The electrical connection : Electrical feeds and controls coordinated with the mechanical team.
Secure entry
A controlled vestibule, access readers and surveillance help manage entry to sensitive spaces. Physical security is layered around the facility.
The electrical connection : Power and pathways for access systems, coordinated with security specialists.
Network room
Fibre and patch panels connect the data hall to external networks. In colocation facilities, a meet-me room can provide the interconnection point for carriers.
The electrical connection : Cable pathways and power for network equipment.

About this illustration
This model explains typical data-center systems. It does not show a customer facility, an engineering design or the scope of a specific project. Cooling, security and network systems are shown in context; specialist responsibilities depend on each contract. The power path is simplified; bypasses, redundant feeds and auxiliary circuits are not shown.

From the first line to the final connection
A clear path to power.
Complex projects take coordination. We stay connected through every stage.
Plan with precision.
Working alongside the project team and electrical engineers to define the requirements, coordinate the work and anticipate what comes next.
Build with confidence.
Skilled electricians turn coordinated plans into carefully executed installations, with safety and quality guiding the work on site.
Verify every connection.
Testing and commissioning check the installation against the project requirements, preparing systems for the transition into operation.
Finish with care.
Final checks, a coordinated handover and continued support bring the project together and keep the relationship moving forward.
People make the connection
Strong foundations. Lasting relationships.
Founded in Montréal in 1991 by Norman Bercovitch and Steven Shepherd, Tri-tech is built on trust, expertise and family values. That spirit still shapes how we work with our clients—and with each other.
